Reeves & His Imaginary Fr13nds announce a new album and UK Autumn tour. Here's the press release:

REEVES GABRELS
UK TOUR DATES Sept/Oct 2014
New Album: “Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds”
 Release date: 13th October 2014

Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds are set to tour the UK this autumn and preview songs from a forthcoming new studio album

Reeves Gabrels, long-time artistic partner of David Bowie and The Cure’s current lead guitarist, brings his power trio, Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds, from Nashville to England to play in small venues starting on September 30

Lovers of superb songs, stellar musicianship and fearless improvisation will all want to see and hear Reeves & friends in action.

The band’s live sets will preview songs from their forthcoming album, also titled Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds, which is to be released digitally just as they head home, on October 13. Highlights include the biting “Drown You Out” and the spooky “House of Usher” (titled after an Edgar Allan Poe story from an 1840 collection Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque).

Uncommon interpretations of Bo Diddley’s early rocker “Who Do You Love” and Jimmy Reed’s blues “Bright Lights, Big City” also feature. Album details and pre-order links will be available on the date of the first performance, September 30.

Fans of earlier Reeves Gabrels albums will also be well pleased at the performances, as the trio will play songs from Sacred Squall of Now (1995), Ulysses (1999) and Rockonica (2005). And of course selected co-writes—Tin Machine’s "Bus Stop" (David Bowie/Reeves Gabrels) and "Yesterday's Gone" (Reeves Gabrels/Robert Smith)—will be a treat for English audiences.

Reeves Gabrels & His Imaginary Fr13nds includes Reeves on guitar and vocals, Kevin Hornback on bass, Jeff Brown on drums.

    1. Right. 5 posts about Reeves since Aug. 1st. Out of 41 posts. It's outrageous.

  4. Just wondering. Is the"Imaginary Fr13nd" thing a reference to "Three Imaginary Boys" and 13 a reference to 4:13 Dream or is that something he used before he joined The Cure?

    1. That was his band's name long before he joined The Cure.

  5. does this mean no tours with the Cure, no new album ? So sorry, if that would be true. I bought the Fantastic Guitars album, by R.G. It's OK, but I'd be way more interested in what he could bring to "the Cure format".

    1. All it means is Reeves recorded an album with his friends (it's done, not taking time away from The Cure) and will play 9 shows with them. It's not like he's announced a massive 3 month world tour. He'll be available again for any Cure stuff on Oct. 12th.

(Also look up COGASM - "A Sign from God" if you're unfamiliar...it was a side project between Robert/Reeves/Jason from around the same time)

    2. Hahaha...yeah, I guess you did. Excellent song! Wish they would play it live now.

Sign From God? Yeah, not so much. :)

  9. I went to the London show yesterday. Very enjoyable! Jason was present and both him and Reeves kindly signed my copy of Obscure which I had just picked up on my way to the gig :)

  12. So...when you got the autograph, did you ask about any new music from The Cure? Any release date information?

  13. I only a quick chat with Reeves as I had to leg it for the bus.

Asked if he knew he was in the town whose football team's flag was on Simon's amp. He was and mentioned Simon was hoping to make it (but didn't) but he'd been at the previous night's gig.

Not seen it mentioned but they did play the COGASM song last night but sadly no Wrong Number ;)

  14. Hi Vicky. I was there too. I saw a girl with the Obscure book. It had to be you then :) Yes Jason popped in. They didn't play any Cure songs or Yesterday's Gone co-written with RS. It was a great night.

  16. Funny how a lot of people want new music.. I mean! I would really LOVE to hear this line-up on a record... 'Cause I believe it is the best The Cure have sounded since the Dream Tour... But the last two records.. Hm! Well. It is The Cure... Obviously. Just don't want Smith to fuck more up! Love Reeves though... (Cough... Outside with Bowie.. Cough)
