Samplers still available from Rhino

According to this ad on the Rhino Records Facebook page, they still have 200 copies of the sampler left. So if you haven't ordered yet, it isn't too late. Which is pretty surprising and a little disappointing.
Update: Down to 100 left.

  1. I think the problem is all the people that were going to pre-order already pre-ordered from another outlet.

Seeing as how this is an album I have previously purchased 3 (cassette tape, cdx2 due to kid destroying first CD) times, I can buy it a 4th time from ideal copy, but not a 5th time by Rhino also.

  2. that's what i was thinking too. all the diehards preordered already. anyone who wanted to preorder probably already has, you know? i'm sure others will just purchase once they see it in stores and when it's actually released.

  3. I canceled my amazon order last Friday to get the sampler, but they still haven't sent any messages saying that it has shipped or anything, just the initial order confirmation.

  4. Not really surprising.. it's $22 shipped on CD-Wow or $40 shipped through Rhino.

  5. I'm not talking about sales in general, but that more people didn't order to get the sampler. If for no other reason than to get it to sell on ebay.

For me, it was worth the extra $16 to get the sampler, which I am not going to sell. But then again, I'm a sucker. : )

  6. I ordered Disintegration from Rhino as well just to get the sampler. Could have had it in Europe way earlier and cheaper, but i direly want the sampler for my collection!

Just yesterday i mailed Rhino about the order status and they answered me that they can't tell me right now if i'm "eligible" to get the sampler CD. Moreover they told me that the sampler will be sent alongside with the Disintegration CD, so that part of their ad that says that the sampler will be sent as a teaser before the actual release date is not true - at least if you order from Europe.

Well, for now i'm happy with the "Alternative Rarities" and the forthcoming Dallas show, so no need to complain - i just hope that they will actually send me the sampler - will be a nice part of my collection!

  7. I haven't pre-ordered it yet because I'm a little short on cash. Next month, perhaps.

  8. What is even more disappointing (and might explain why sales are so slow) is the fact that to order at Rhino, I'd have to pay over 20$ in shipping costs! 20$ to ship a 32$ CD to Canada? No thanks.

  9. Yeah, the shipping costs are so high to Europe too. I pre-ordered also at cd-wow. They are the cheapest plus they do free shipping anywhere.

But as I dont want to buy that Promosampler later for 300 Euros I decided to buy it now from Rhino too. Somehow its worth to me, even though I am not supporting their company philosophy. But which company is"good"? Its always about making money...

  10. I did order through Rhino. As a completist, I want the sampler. Having said that, a sampler is by it's very nature redundant. Couldn't Rhino have come up with a better "carrot," like a 7-inch of some kind?

  11. totally, i'm pretty much a completist and i couldn't give a rat's ass about the sampler.

  12. I pre-ordered from Ideal Copy and am reluctant to cancel my order. I think I'll just try to get the sampler later, not because I'm a collector, but because I really dig the artwork. Btw, @ anyone who has seen the sampler, can you tell us who is credited with the artwork?

  13. does anyone know how to go about canceling a pre-order with ideal copy?

i replied to my order confirmation email that i would like to cancel the pre-order, but haven't heard anything back and the order is still listed in my order history.

just wondering if i'm going about it the right way.

  14. Ryan: I've emailed Chris @ Ideal Copy about it. Hope he takes care of it for you.

  15. I read a while back that the recent Replacements reissues and the 2008 reissue of Liz Phair's Exile in Guyville sold poorly. I wonder how well the average reissue sells these days.

  16. @Ryan

my confirmation email was actually from paypal rather than ideal copy, i don't know how it is for you.
i've just emailed chris@idealcopy.com when i had questions, including my order number, and he was very quick to respond.
