  3. DBC: When was "You're So Happy" released? How did that slip by me? Or are you talking about that cover version from Pink Pig, that everyone thinks is real?

Either way, if it isn't commercially available, it's fine.

  5. I'm throughly anoyyed I couldn't choose The Hungry Ghost, it's definitley a new classic for me.

My list turned out fairly represenatie though; I would've included more tracks from WMS, Self-Titled, Wish, Kiss Mex3, & To The Sky (bootleg) if it asked for a top 10.

    List:

    A Forest
    A Chain of Flowers
    Disintegration
    The Figurehead
    Maybe Someday

  9. Oh I know the song is real, I guess I just missed that a vocal demo was released. Every time someone claimed to have it, it turned out to be that cover version from the Pink Pig project.

  10. oh, I have You're So Happy but with NO ROBERT on vocals..
could anybody enlighten me as to this and whoever has original Robert on vocals in this song - send me it? I'd appreciate a lot

  12. and one thing
Big Thanks to you Craig for keeping the blog. I am a relatively new Curefan (begun in February 2008), I didn't even manage to make it to the gigs in Poland because I wasn't into The Cure, but somewhat week later I started to listen to the albums and from that moment nothing was the same
I have followed this blog for several months already, but didn't take floor till today

Thank you for your time and dedication

    Cat, Poland

  15. So What! Yes!
How could I forget it ;/

    mine was
    1. Plainsong
    2. Faith
    3. Untitled
    4. Bare
    5. Last Day Of Summer

I love Bare, musiacally and lyrically

  16. hmmmmmmm... tricky, but I think I'll go with:

    Meathook
    Doubt
    The Kiss
    The Snakepit
    Strange Attraction

Of course, like all Cure favourite lists, it changes by the minute.

  17. ....followed closely by:

    Cold
    Babble
    A Letter To Elise
    Disintegration
    Club America

  18. This was tough.

My top 5 (at this moment) is:
    1. A Letter to Elise (SURPRISE)
    2. Out of This World
    3. To Wish Impossible Things
    4. Want
    5. The Perfect Boy

But I'll change my mind tomorrow..... I swear

  19. It's nice that they are having these contests!

  20. "But I'll change my mind tomorrow....I swear."

Elise, I want to hear you sing that like Robert

  21. Best lyrics, eh? OK. Going purely by the lyrics, these are my faves:

    1. Disintegration
    2. Bare
    3. Fear of Ghosts
    4. A Letter to Elise
    5. Where the Birds Always Sing

Hands down, Disintegration has the best lyrics. I remember one of the coolest presents I ever got. When I was 18 and moved into my first apartment somebody gave me a huge poster of Robert Smith and this person had hand-written the entire lyrics of Disintegration (the song) onto the poster. God, I loved that poster.

  22. It's really impossible to just pick 5 songs. So many of The Cure's songs have Amazing Lyrics! And too bad with this contest we can't pick anything from the new album or any unreleased material.

Personally I think the lyrics from A Boy I Never Knew is one of Roberts best. Deeply personal & highly emotional. Makes my cry every time I hear it!

    Oh well here' my list:
    1.)Were the Birds Always Sing
    2.)Charlotte Sometimes
    3.)Disintegration
    4.)Want
    5.)Fear Of Ghosts

  23. Pretty hard...
    Let's see:

    Pillbox Tales
    Round & Round & Round
    Taking Off
    Dredd Song
    Lament (vinyl F-U version)

    I think that covers it.

  24. deadboycraved, i do like some sopor, yeah. i'm into heavy melodrama.

this was the hardest list of all because there are so many memorable lyrical moments.

    the caterpillar
    this twilight garden
    like cockatoos
pornography ("one more day like today and i'll kill you")
    fteotdgs

but i didnt want to pick any. and when i saw everybody else's i wanted them ALL.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Five? Five??? *sigh*

    Untitled
    Disintegration
    This Twilight Garden
    The Holy Hour
    FTEOTDGS

Valid only until the next mood swing

  26. Lyrically my fave songs:

    ICING SUGAR
    PRAYERS FOR RAIN
    THE UPSTAIRS ROOM
    THE DROWNING MAN
    2 LATE

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yep.

Proof that people don't care much about reading other people's lists.

  28. Swifty said "Elise, I want to hear you sing that like Robert"

    Maybe someday ;)

  29. Elise! Do it now!
    Let yourself go!
