  2. pfft. it's a total rip. but not surprising as there's no such thing as originality in art anymore.
and everybody commenting for robert to sue- DON'T. that'll just be the next excuse for the album coming out 10 more months later.

  3. That "band" is a complete joke anyway.

  4. yeah, it's a terrible song. sounds like lovecats, of course, but it's just awful, pure drivel.

  5. First they steal a song from Robert, then they tell me to blame Simon. They must have it out for the members of The Cure. What's next - will they kidnap Porl's dog and slash Jason's tires?

  6. Holy cow! You're right. :)

  7. It's certainly got a reminiscent vibe to "Lovecats" and it's kinda annoying but it's not like they stole any melodies or chord progressions or anything.

And it's not like the Cure have never plagiarized -- just listen to "Inbetween Days" and then New Order's "Dreams Never End" (recorded four years prior). Bob got away with murder on that one...

  8. That New Order similarity is quite a shocker, but "Inbetween Days" is less like that New Order song than Hoosiers.

  9. This is not a Cure rip-off. Inspired be Love Cats, perhaps, but not a rip-off.

Oh, and New Order did a blatant rip of part of Just like Heaven on their album Technique. See if you can figure out which song. :)

  10. Oops, BY Love Cats, not "be".

  11. it isnt that much a ripoff. its just the synth piano part rhythm, the shuffle feel, and the bass going five one over and over again. its one of the most common sounding vehicles used to define the shuffle sound but since they have an indie vibe reminiscent of the cure (and were probably influenced at some point by them perhaps not even in direct relation to this song) it comes out as "plagiarism". they could have however, due to it being a stereotypical approach, made it more interesting by perhaps changing up some shit in its orchestration, perhaps with some badass synths or maybe different guitar work, more interesting bassline etc. eh if you look around you'll find plenty of songs that sound like other songs. try deciphering baroque harpsichord music hahaha.

  12. All The Way by New Order!!
    Sounds just like heaven...

Although The Cure owes a HUGE debt to Joy Division.
Disintegration sounds like it was created from the last 35 seconds of Atmosphere by JD.

I love both bands so I am not playing favorites, but both of these legendary bands have lifted from each other.

  13. It warms my heart to see the New Order/Joy Division/Cure ripoff conversations alive and well!

As for this particular song, it reminds me of when a commercial or TV show takes a popular song and twists it just enough to remind the audience of the original song without violating copyright law... not a DIRECT ripoff, but enough of a ripoff to make me believe that this band is trying to trade on the Cure's song...

On a somewhat related topic: Is the Killers' version of "Shadowplay" the worst cover ever??? I say YES!!!

  14. I heard rumors that The Cure are working on a new album?

  15. Tell me you didn't mention the killers and JD in the same breath? heheh
Their cover was horrible. Whoo ooo ooo's belong in a JD song like a Turd belongs in my grilled cheese.

    do not want.

  16. Slightly sounds the same, but who doesn't at the moment? Interpol - Rest My Chemistry = The Pixies - Where Is My Mind?

  17. Well. The Cure really can't complain too much. They have started ripping themselves off now.

See "Just Like Heaven" vs "Taking Off"
