Robert in Rolling Stone (Italy)

The latest issue of Rolling Stone (Italy) features Robert on the cover, some photos and an interview. Don't get too excited, it's just part of the Hong Kong Ham interview from last July.

  1. I don't understand why we haven't heard a peep out of Robert since the new tour began. I mean, aren't new tours normally replete with interviews in various media? Has there been a single new comment on the album status, for example?

  2. Personally I think The Cure are in trouble. I'm starting to the the feeling that this album is never coming out, and that they are just touring to make a few bucks at this point, lol.

I mean the setlists rarely change, some of the song choices are awful...alt.end? Wrong Number? Never Enough? WTF...

I think Robert may be nearing the true end of this...

I wish they would go out with a bang - forget the new album. What they should are residency shows in London, NY, LA. A week each and play every album in it's entirty.

    Then call it a day.

-actually that would be calling it 21 days.

  4. I was thinking the same, jpx. But I guess they just want to play the gigs and not get interrupted by magazines and TV ... though, hold on, wasn't there an interview in Berlin? The one where Robert couldn't be there because he had a toothache? ... hmmm ... maybe no one wants to interview them?! ... ;) ... KIDDING! (before I get death threats)

  5. The lack of information about the new album is a bit worrying. Especially because the little they have told is not reassuring. According to Porl's, Simon's and Jason's last comments, they still don't have a clue about the number of songs which are gonna be included, they still don't know what kind of album is gonna be (a compilation-like album, in the style of KMKMKM or something shorter and more compact) and most importantly, Robert still hasn't finished the lyrics, which is actually what is keeping things stuck, apparently.

Ah, if I only think that they made Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography in three years...

  6. I dispair at reading most of the posts on here...Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion but most of you seem to spend an awful lot of time dissing something/someone you're supposed to like...Just let it be...whatever comes out will come out, whenever it does, under what ever name, then you can make comments...If you're not happy with the band, the tour, the songs and anything else go listen to Tokio hotel or whatever they are called!!

  7. I don't believe that people are being critical, Perfect.Murder. People love this band and are obviously very excited about hearing some new material. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years on The Cure and I certainly feel that I have the right to question the status of the new album, especially since the concert I purchased a ticket for was cancelled so the new album could be completed.

  8. Ok, i live on the other side of the pond and understand your frustration at having to wait 6 months, admitedly on the back of a lame excuse...but i still think a lot of people make an easy target of the band...I have myself spend thousands of pounds on the band..I have been to 4 shows so far on 4Tour, and look forward to Wembley, and even if i can almost tell the setlist by heart, it is still very much an exciting prospect. But as i said in first post, everyone is entitled to their opinion..it just seems a waste of time to moan..Whoever expects to hear Afoolish arrangement, 2 late etc is kidding themselves..I am a true Cure fan, but this is 2008 and The Cure are different from 1982 or 1989..just live with it..

  9. I'm not disagreeing with you at all and I'm perfectly content with any setlist they do. It's The Cure, after all, one of the greatest bands ever. I just want this album to come out already!

  10. @jpx: I, too, would be interested in hearing some news from Robert about the new album. :) Or at least a recent interview of some kind of him!

@marie: I really do think he had a toothache on the night of the Berlin show - when I saw them there, he kept holding his hand over his mouth and looked like he wasn't feeling very well. :( Simon kind of had to lead him on the stage at the beginning, and he had more trouble than usual with the words of the songs. I got kinda worried about him that night!

@perfect.murder: I agree with you - let's back off and wait for the album to actually be released so we can form a true opinion of it before we start disparaging it! :) To do anything else is a complete waste of time/energy!

  11. I know, V. I was there too :D He nearly fell down the backstage staircase, poor thing. ;)

Lets just relax and see what happens. And enjoy the concerts as they come along. YAY!!!

  12. @marie: Ah, cool, you were there too!! :) Were you sitting in the stands or were you standing on the floor? I just ask because I was sitting in the stands on the "stage left" (aka "Simon side" :) ) of the stage and had a great view of the backstage area, so I wonder if you were sitting near me!

  13. V: I was sitting right in opposite of you, on "Porl's side". Couldn't face the masses, so I decided to watch it from afar for once. :D

  14. @marie: The Velodrom was a strange venue, with that dead spot between the floor and the stands where the bike track is. Ah well - did you go to any other shows besides Berlin (and I see you're from London, so are you going to Wembley? :) )?

  15. V: I'll be there at Wembley. I went to Stockholm and Hamburg. My friends are on a proper tour through Europe at the moment (I think they only missed Oslo and Copenhagen) but I had to work ... no holiday left. Our holiday year finishes at the end of March, so perfect timing for me ... NOT!!! :( Lets hope the rumoured "autumn tour" happens, so I can see them a few more times ;)

  16. @marie: Wow, I'm jealous of your friends - and of you, for getting to go to so many shows. :) After seeing Hamburg and Berlin all I wanted to do was to follow them around Europe for the rest of their tour. Alas, I had to fly back across the ocean to return to work. :) And yes they're coming here, but everything in the States is so spread out that I may only see them once here! Too bad. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful time at Wembley!! :) And yes, they will have to have an autumn tour in Europe so they can play all of their new songs!! :D
